Distribution & Habitat:[edit]

Grows in lowland savannah areas of Pinar del Rio and Isla de Pinos, Cuba.

Description:[edit]

Very unusual fan palm, with odd, bottle shaped trunk.

General:[edit]

Locals make use of the plant's wood, leaves and fruit, but unfortunately, regeneration is poor, so the palm is becoming endangered in its habitat.

Culture:[edit]

Sunny, moist, but well drained position. Tropical in its requirements.
