Synonymy:[edit]

Dypsis darianii

Common Names:[edit]

Teddy Bear Palm,
Redneck

Distribution & Habitat:[edit]

Madagascan rainforest

Description:[edit]

Medium/large feather palm to about 10m, with a very distinctive reddish brown tormentum on the crown-shaft and a white waxy trunk.

General:[edit]

A very popular palm in the tropics and sub-tropics. Often confused with another palm also known as the Redneck, Dypsis_lastelliana. That palm gets a much darker crown-shaft colouring, however it is a much, much slower grower, so for most people (i.e. non palm collectors) this is the preferred plant.

Culture:[edit]

An easily grown palm which likes full sun/light shade, and a moist, well drained position.
