Common Names:[edit]

White-haired cycad

Distribution & Habitat:[edit]

Exposed slopes of the mountains of the Eastern Cape Province, South Africa. Summers are very hot and dry, while winters are very cold, with frosts and snow being common.

Description:[edit]

Clumping medium/large plant, to about 4m tall. Leaves slightly erect.

General:[edit]

This species can produce more cones than any other species of Encephalartos

Culture:[edit]

Very hardy species (see habitat above), but very slow growing. Requires full sun, and very good drainage.
