Distribution & Habitat:[edit]

This species is only found near the village of Kolwezi in the Shaba province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It grows in grassy shrublands on ridges and mountain slopes in the the Miombo woodlands at between 1,450 and 1,500 m asl.

Description:[edit]

This is a small cycad with an acaulescent trunk, up to 250mm (10 inches) tall. It has blue-green leaves up to 1.2m (4 feet) long.

General:[edit]

It belongs to the E. poggei complex of dwarf central African species, that also includes E. delucanus, E. marunguensis and E. schmitzii.

Cultivation:[edit]

Likes a sunny, well drained position.
