===Description:===
A tall, (to about 3m) densely clumping palm,
with canes up to about 1cm in diameter.

===Culture:===
Sunny, moist, but well drained position.
Needs shade when young, but can take full sun as it gets older.
The most cold tolerant of the bamboo ''Chamaedoreas''.

Figures 3&4 are of the form once thought to be a different species
and called ''C. erumpens''. They have noticeably wider leaflets
than the standard form. These are second generation plants of
seed distributed by the IPS in the 1970's.
