''P. cocoides'' trunk close-up.]] </div> <div class="small-0 large-7 columns"> ===Common Names:=== Coco Cumbe (local name),<br/> Quito palm<br/> ===Distribution & Habitat:=== Only found in cultivation in dry, humid, high altitude valleys of the Andes thru Ecuador, Bolivia and Colombia. so is probably a cultivated variant of ''P. totallyi''. ===Description:=== Large, solitary, pinnate palm, to about 10m tall, with a very hairy trunk, and long drooping leaves, quite similar to a coconut palm (''Cocos nucifera''). The leaflets are dark green with a white underside. ===Culture:=== Sunny, well drained position. Prefers a frost free, temperate climate but will take frost, but dislikes high temperatures. Much slower growing than its brother, ''P. torallyi''. Good for getting a tropical feel in cooler areas. Grows well in California, up to San Francisco. </div> </div> <div class="row"> <div class="small-0 large-6 columns"> [[File:Parajubaea_cocoides.jpg|frame|Figure 1.
