Tropical rainforests from sea level to 1000m (3000').

Description:

A slender feather palm to about 12m (40'). Oval, red fruits to 6cm (2.5").

General:

Used as a [[www.pacsoa.org.aupalmsArecacatechu Betel Nut substitute, and becoming popular in SE Asia due to supposed magical medicinal powers.

Cultivation:

Cold sensitive, so it likes a sunny, well drained position in the tropics. <br/>
