Common Names:

Cunambo ruya

Distribution & Habitat:

An understory palm of the western Amazon basin (Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Brazil). It prefers low-level poorly drained soils and flood plains.

Description:

A medium sized, solitary palm with a short, subterranean stem. It has erect, plumose leaves, up to 7m long, with persistent leaf bases.

Culture:

Warm, sheltered position. Doesn't mind poor drainage.
