Tepejilote (local name)

Distribution & Habitat:

It is endemic to cloud forests in the Mexican States of Veracruz and Oaxaca, where it grows between at between 1000 and 1500 m elevation on the Atlantic slope; often on limestone.

Description:

A small, slender, solitary palm, to about 2 m, with attractive, narrow, dark green, erect or slightly arching, finely pinnate leaves. It has a long, ascending, unbranched inflorescences that reaches well beyond the leaves.

Culture:

Shady, sheltered, and moist. Likes it very humid.
