Common Names:

Major Jenkin's rattan palm

Distribution & Habitat:

Rainforest from E. Himalaya to Indo-China.

Description:

An attractive, fine leaved climbing palm with very spiny stems and leaves.

General:

This is a widely used rattan; both for furniture making, as well as for food (the young shoots are edible)

Culture:

Warm, sheltered, and moist.
