Distribution & Habitat:

Found in Brazil, from South Bahia to Rio de Janeiro.

Description:

Medium sized, solitary palm with a smooth, slender trunk with a distinctive swollen base, with long arching, slightly plumose leaves, and long, thin leaflets.

Culture:

Sunny, moist, well drained position. Cold tolerant and fast growing. Becoming very popular in cultivation.
