Littoral forests of south east Madagascar.

Description:[edit]

An attractive, medium sized, solitary palm with recurved, pinnate leaves, a tristichous leaf arrangement, a waxy, whitish crownshaft, and a closely ringed trunk.

General:[edit]

Critically endangered in habitat. The palm heart is popular with the locals for its eating qualities; its local name "Telopoloamvilany", means "30 people around the cooking pot".

Culture:[edit]

Sunny, moist, but well drained position.
