Distribution:

Cuba

Habitat:

Open forest on limestone based soils.

Description:

A very distinctive, tall, spiny palm to about 15m, with swollen middle on a very slender base, and a dense crown of arching leaves.

General:

Culture:

Sunny, well drained position, but with plenty of water. Very slow growing when young, but speed up considerably when they start to trunk. <br/>
